Heritage Sites to change Kenya Tourism Face

Plan an unforgettable visit now and read about the life history and way of life of Africans to make your experience in the future better by visiting places such as a forest, mountain, lake, desert, monument, building, complex, or city listed by the UNESCO as special cultural or physical significance areas in the world . Each World Heritage Site is the property of the state on whose territory the site is located, but it is considered in the interest of the international community to preserve each site. Besides, the Nairobi Kenya’s heritage is the least marketed as a kenya tourist attraction although thousands of visitors would love to sample it.

Due to the less attention given to Nairobi Kenya heritage sites, a British tourist Dr Jeffrey Sherwin, an honorary City of Leeds alderman and a frequent visitor to kenya including some masai mara tours said the country would gain if tour operators included the rich heritage alongside the sun, beach and safari in their package. Also on his Kenya beach holiday in Mombasa, he said the Tourism ministry should partner with the National Museums of Kenya and introduce packages that include heritage sites.” After sampling some of the best heritage sites in the world like the Gede ruins in Malindi, one gets the feeling that this important aspect of Kenya's history is ignored yet it has the potential to enhance the country's tourism status.

"This could easily be realised through the creation of awareness such as organising lectures for guests in major hotels and organising day tours to the heritage sites. Kenya's embassies abroad could come in handy and promote the intellectual side of Africa which is hidden in the heritage," his said. Still Dr Sherwin's remarks come as tourism players at the Coast have started marketing other products.Mombasa and Coast Tourist Association executive officer Millicent Odhiambo said Kenya had other attractions that could change the face of tourism making Kenya move to the next level in terms of tourism development and arrivals.
