Yellow fever vaccination certificates ‘necessary for all tourists to Zanzibar

However, It’s a rule to every visitor (tourist) entering Dar es Salaam Zanzibar to have a yellow fever vaccination certificates at points of entry because of the alert notice issued by the Zanzibar Revolutionary Government.  It comes in the wake of an outbreak of yellow fever reported some African countries recently. Still Dr Mohammed Jiddaw, described yellow fever as a very serious disease with high cases of fatality but the disease can be prevented by taking the available measures of vaccination and a single dose injectable vaccine confers a ten-year immunity against the disease. He said. In a letter dated January 26, 2011, sent to the commissioner general, Commission of Tourism, the government told all local and international tour operators and airlines that a valid certificate has to be shown at points of entry.

“I hereby request you to inform the Zanzibar Association of Tourist Investors (ZATO), Zanzibar Association of Tour Operators (ZATO), international tour operators and all airlines that a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate has to be shown at airports, seaports and other points of entry,” He added. The outbreak started in early November and to date has only affected a few districts around East Africa. Following the outbreak in 12 districts of East Africa. Though yellow fever has affected EastAfrica, measures and solutions have been taken to calm the situation and East Africa is the safest area of travel in Africa.
