Save Money on Your Holiday to Thailand

Many articles or web-sites that are related to travelling to Thailand claim that it is a cheap holiday destination.
Oftentimes they forget to mention that it can be a 'cheap holiday destination', IF YOU KNOW HOW TO CONTROL 
YOU’RE SPENDING!
The best thing for you to do is to prepare yourself before you travel to Thailand. Get familiar with what the country has 
to offer, and how things work around here when it comes to booking an excursion or for example renting a car.
Another item that has the potential of draining your financial resources is food, yes that's right.
If you are familiar with Thai food, you might already be aware of this. If however you have never had any Thai food it 
can be a good idea to sample some in your own home city or at least read some articles about it.

I say this because I live in Bangkok, and talk from my own experience and that of my family also. Whenever I pass a 'tourist' location I always see them entering the western style restaurants. The same story at the KFC and Mac Donald. They seemed to have forgotten that they can eat this same food back home and most of the times for the same prices. If you do this once that's okay, but if you do this every day of your holiday you miss out on an important part of the Thai culture. But in the end it is your choice, many visitors to Thailand miss their own food after some days and compensate for it by going to a fast food outlet.

That was about the food, but for the drinks it is more or less the same thing. The cheapest drinks around here are 
Soft drinks, water and beer. Fruit juice when bought in a supermarket is double the price of soft drinks.
Having a drink in let's say Starbucks might be cheaper than in your own home country, but it is often 5 to 10 
times more expensive compared to a stall that can be found maybe 25 to 50 meters down the road.

But there is also good news :-), Thailand and especially Bangkok is well known for its cheap shopping. Here in 
Bangkok there is shopping malls everywhere around the city. In my opinion there is always a sale going on 
Somewhere. Clothing, Shoes, Bags, Jeweler, Gemstones you name it can be found here at great prices. Bangkok is 
Also well known and has a good reputation when it comes to surgery and dental services. These services are very high 
quality and can rival with the best services in Europe or the United States, at very competitive prices.
 
Let's recap food and drinks are cheaper and can save you significantly when you have this at a 'local' restaurant 
Instead of at one of those fancy well known brand names. Thailand with Bangkok in particular is a shopping Walhalla
